From '80s Floral to Streamlined SophisticationIn our home, the powder room isn’t tucked away in a quiet corner—it is the first interior space guests encounter when entering from the mudroom. It carries a heavy responsibility: it must be high-functioning for daily life, yet refined enough to serve as the home’s "opening statement." The Floral Era When we first took stewardship of the Ridge, this space was a time capsule of 1980s design choices. It featured a sliding gold-trim shower door, peel-and-stick flooring, and a persistent parade of blue floral wall tiles. As the only fully functional bathroom during our early restoration phases, it had to bide its time while we addressed more critical plumbing priorities across the 4,000-square-foot estate. The 2023 Reclamation By Fall 2023, the "memorable" floral era finally came to an end. Because the bedroom wing of the lodge features two additional tubs, we made the strategic decision to prioritize flow over traditional fixtures. We replaced the cramped tub with a sleek, walk-in shower. This change allowed us to maximize the compact footprint, turning a once-awkward afterthought into a streamlined showpiece. The Welcome Surprise What was once a room we hurried guests past is now a space of elegant utility. It stands as a testament to our philosophy at the Ridge: that even the smallest rooms deserve architectural discipline and a curated touch. It’s no longer just a bathroom; it’s a welcome surprise for anyone stepping in from the mountain air. Update 2026...The Work Continues...While the Guest Arrival Suite is now a polished showpiece, the rhythm of restoration never stops at the Ridge. We are currently deep in the "underbelly" of Bathroom #3 of 4. Rick is in the thick of the technical phase—waterproofing, tiling, and refining the plumbing—as we move one step closer to completing the full "Sanctuary Series" of the bedroom wing. It’s messy, it’s loud, and it’s exactly the kind of slow, intentional work that makes the final reveal so worth the wait. Stay tuned for the next update from the Ridge.

THE CURATED RIDGE | BLOGThe StewardsLodge & Legacy is the shared life’s work of Rick and Tanya. Our journey within Our Heritage Lodge has been defined by a deep respect for craftsmanship and the belief that a true sanctuary is built, not bought. Rick is the master of the "Resolve." A visionary with rare mechanical and architectural skill, he personally designed and hand-built our 40x60 Carriage House—the foundation of our evolution. His ability to translate a vision into timber and stone is the reason we were able to take on a project of this magnitude. Tanya is the curator of the "Grace." With an eye for interior artistry and heritage provenance, she breathes soul into the structures Rick builds. Tanya ensures that every 1904 brick and salvaged artifact tells a story, turning our home into a curated experience of quiet reflection. Together, we are the stewards of this mountain sanctuary—uncovering its beauty through Rick’s hands and Tanya’s heart. 9Archives
