Above the Treeline: The Story of The Outlook Loft In the Canadian Rockies, you don’t choose the view; the mountain chooses you. When we first staked out the site for our new carriage house and loft, we began with a 40×60-foot footprint. But for Rick, there was one non-negotiable metric that stood above the blueprints: The Roche Miette factor. We knew that to truly honor this acreage, the guest experience had to be elevated—literally. We decided to dedicate a 22×40-foot section of the upper structure to what we are now calling Outlook Loft. "Twelve years is a long time to live with a landscape, and it changes you. Originally, this loft was only meant for us—a private retreat for ourselves and family members visiting our estate. But as the walls went up and we saw the light hit Roche Miette from the new elevation, a whole new vision evolved. It simply didn't feel right to keep this perspective to ourselves. We realized that the serenity we’ve cultivated here is meant to be shared; it feels right to open our doors and share this amazing view and location with others who are looking for their own moment of quiet reflection." A Private Vantage Outlook Loft isn’t just a room; it’s a self-contained sanctuary with a separate entry. We’ve designed the flow to lead guests through a middle breezeway and deck area—a transitional space that serves as a "porch to the peaks." Imagine stepping onto the balcony, coffee in hand, to find yourself eye-to-eye with the trees and face-to-face with the mountains. Because we’ve built upward, the view is unobstructed, serene, and absolutely silent. Life Outside the Loft While Outlook Loft will be filled with pieces of our "Collection"—including the stories of 1904 bricks and heritage artifacts—the real luxury lies outside:
While The Heritage Lodge remains our private sanctuary and the heart of our 15-year mission, the Outlook Loft is our invitation to you—a future guest space designed to share the quiet majesty of the Rockies. We aren’t just building a place to stay; we are building a vantage point. We can't wait to welcome you to experience the "Art of the Mountains" and "Find Your Perspective" here at Lodge and Legacy’s Outlook Loft.

THE CURATED RIDGE | BLOGThe StewardsLodge & Legacy is the shared life’s work of Rick and Tanya. Our journey within Our Heritage Lodge has been defined by a deep respect for craftsmanship and the belief that a true sanctuary is built, not bought. Rick is the master of the "Resolve." A visionary with rare mechanical and architectural skill, he personally designed and hand-built our 40x60 Carriage House—the foundation of our evolution. His ability to translate a vision into timber and stone is the reason we were able to take on a project of this magnitude. Tanya is the curator of the "Grace." With an eye for interior artistry and heritage provenance, she breathes soul into the structures Rick builds. Tanya ensures that every 1904 brick and salvaged artifact tells a story, turning our home into a curated experience of quiet reflection. Together, we are the stewards of this mountain sanctuary—uncovering its beauty through Rick’s hands and Tanya’s heart. 9Archives
