THE LODGE ROOM: AN OUTPOST OF HERITAGE

From 70s Sci-Fi to 'JPL East' Every estate has a room that tests your patience. In our "Boomerang," that was the space originally defined by a 1970s sci-fi lounge aesthetic: a massive, wedding-sized built-in bar and a "maze" of hallway entrances that left a stunning fireplace totally lost in the chaos.
The Slow Marinade
We didn’t rush the reclamation. We allowed the room to "marinate" for years, using only a coat of paint to tide us over. It wasn’t until 2021 that we finally found the courage to dismantle the mega-bar, simplify the entry, and reclaim the floor plan.
The Lodge Transformation
Once the "underbelly" of the room was simplified, the true center—the fireplace—finally found its voice. But the real evolution happened when we began curating the layers that define it today.
Moving away from the "funky" past, we leaned into a deep, Jasper-inspired aesthetic. With the addition of Jasper Park Lodge chairs, a Canoe table, and the rich textures of plaid upholstery, the room transformed into a sophisticated mountain retreat.
A Room with a Reputation
Lovingly dubbed "Rick’s Room," this space is a tribute to the outdoors and his love of fishing. It has become such a sanctuary that my mother-in-law officially christened it "JPL East." It is now the primary gathering spot for our kids to relax and play games when they return to the Ridge—a perfect blend of high-end lodge heritage and the lived-in warmth of a family hub. It stands as proof that sometimes, stewardship means saying goodbye to a giant 70s bar to make room for a legacy.

Lodge & Legacy is the shared life’s work of Rick and Tanya. Our journey within Our Heritage Lodge has been defined by a deep respect for craftsmanship and the belief that a true sanctuary is built, not bought. Rick is the master of the "Resolve." A visionary with rare mechanical and architectural skill, he personally designed and hand-built our 40x60 Carriage House—the foundation of our evolution. His ability to translate a vision into timber and stone is the reason we were able to take on a project of this magnitude. Tanya is the curator of the "Grace." With an eye for interior artistry and heritage provenance, she breathes soul into the structures Rick builds. Tanya ensures that every 1904 brick and salvaged artifact tells a story, turning our home into a curated experience of quiet reflection. Together, we are the stewards of this mountain sanctuary—uncovering its beauty through Rick’s hands and Tanya’s heart.

Lodge & Legacy didn't begin as a grand mission; it began with a house we simply wanted to call home. We didn't yet know the magnitude of what lay beneath the surface, nor the historic significance of the 1904 masonry that would eventually define our path.
As we moved in, the stories began to unveil themselves—one brick, one beam, and one mechanical overhaul at a time. We have learned that restoration, much like dance, requires immense patience for the process and a deep respect for form.
We welcome the rigor of the work, knowing that preserving a legacy is a marathon, not a sprint. We are honored to share these stories with you as we steward this sanctuary toward its next hundred years.
